THREE IS A CROWD

"Three is a crowd" are sculptures made from Kahikatea and coated with three coats of varnish. Each sculpture has a self supporting metal stand that is painted black.  The stand will need fixing to the ground if the sculptures are permanently staying outside. The sculptures were inspired by the lifesaver sweets.  This tree fell in a big slip at Te Henga, Bethells 2021. Kahikatea is New Zealand's tallest native tree and has a yellow colour wood. The trees grew like skyscrapers together and intertwined their roots for support. New Zealand had many of these tall trees in swampy areas but they were exploited to make boxes for butter and cheese when sent overseas in the 1800's.

Height 2.6 meters

Price $1500 each or $3000 for three
